LA County Launches Permit for Residents Who Opted Out of Government Run Debris Removal Program

As part of its commitment to an efficient and effective fire recovery process, Los Angeles County has launched the Opt-Out Permit for property owners who choose to hire private contractors for fire debris removal. This permit allows home and business owners—and their authorized private contractors—to manage their own debris removal efforts while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental standards.

Beginning today at noon, the first edition of the Eaton and Palisades Fire Debris Removal permit will be available via the County’s EPIC-LA system. While this initial version may require refinements, updates will be provided at recovery.lacounty.gov. We appreciate the community’s patience as we work to provide homeowners with a streamlined process that balances efficiency with the highest safety and environmental standards.

This permit is only for residents who have opted out of the Government Run Debris Removal Program in order to work with a private contractor at their own cost.

LA County remains committed to facilitating the fastest debris removal program in the state’s history while managing an unprecedented level of customer service needs. Residents are encouraged to visit recovery.lacounty.gov for the latest information and updates.
