Apply for Permits

There are two types of County Disaster Recovery Permit applications. One is for temporary housing units and temporary housing communities, and the other is for rebuild projects. These applications may be submitted online or in person at any field office. LA County will accept applications when a property owner is ready to submit. However, Phases 1 and 2 of debris removal must be completed before permits are issued.

Temporary housing applications will be reviewed within two business days. Rebuild project applications will be reviewed within 10 business days. After LA County staff determines whether the project qualifies as a like-for-like rebuild, they will follow up with next steps.

LA County eCheck – AI Pilot for Faster Home Approvals

LA County is partnering with Archistar to launch the new eCheck AI Pilot, a cutting-edge tool that reviews building plans for compliance with zoning rules using artificial intelligence. If your single-family home was impacted by the Eaton Fire or the Palisades Fire and is located in a single-family (R-1) residential zone in the unincorporated Altadena or Sunset Mesa communities, you are invited to join as an Early Adopter.
